A REDLAND Bay business is helping the homeless by raising funds for Night Ninjas.
Staff at Crusty Edge Bakery and Cafe have asked customers to don their best jammies for their PJ Party on Saturday, June 30 between 8am and noon, but their fundraiser is nothing to yawn at.
Party organiser Nik Burton said plenty of items had already been donated for the charity ahead of the event.
“Night Ninjas are in desperate need of funds at the moment and, being winter, they are begging for items to clothe and shelter our homeless in Redlands,” Ms Burton said.
“We have utilised our contacts in the industry we work in and have been overwhelmed by their support and generous donation to help.”
Night Ninjas was set up in 2015 by Redlands woman Alix Russo to help the homeless by giving them food, clothing, soap and other personal hygiene products.
The bayside organisation also refers clients to other agencies for help and is planning to build a drop-in centre, equipped with beds, bathrooms and a laundry.
Sales of cupcakes, raffle tickets and a sausage sizzle at Crusty Edge Bakery and Cafe on Saturday will help raise funds for the cause, with face painting offered for kids.
Ms Burton said tip jars had been put out at the bakery ahead of the party to raise funds.
“We are independent and have no affiliation with (Night Ninjas) but believe as a small group, we may be able to make a difference,” she said.
